July Backcountry Snowscoot Test in Tateyama, Japan – Summer Snow Session

We thought the 2026 snow season was already over, but the mountains called us back.

From Tateyama, Japan.

Today we went back into the mountains for a Snowscoot test session on natural summer snow.
The snowpack was already very thin, and the surface conditions were changing constantly. Soft snow, hard patches, rough texture, and uneven summer snow were all mixed together.

It was not an easy day, but that is exactly why it was a valuable test.

When the conditions are difficult, even a simple turn gives us important feedback.
Board response, frame balance, edge control, body movement, and rider reaction all become very clear on this kind of snow.

Summer snow has its own face.
It is not perfect, but it gives us information that we cannot get anywhere else.

At TOOLATE SPORTS, we are continuing our testing and preparation for the 2027 Snowscoot season, including frames, boards, parts, and tuning.

We climbed carefully, tested the gear, and managed to ride two satisfying lines before heading back down.
One crash included — real testing is never completely clean.

Some sample models and test parts are currently displayed at our shop in Toyama, Japan.
We are also planning a new model order event at the shop during the Obon summer holiday season.

To all Snowscoot riders in Japan and around the world:
the 2027 season is already starting here, even in July.

Snow never really ends.
It just changes shape.
